Le Marais

The marsh // Le Marais is a district of Paris located in the 3rd and 4th arrondissement. In this area were marshes, which were drained from the 10th century to house religious communities and serve as a vegetable garden for the city of Paris. The marsh became fashionable under Henri IV and Louis XIII (17th century). The Place des Vosges and many buildings and mansions date from this period.

Romantic, festive, trendy, the Marais seduces with its cobbled streets, its historical places and its small stores. Located in the center of Paris, this village-like district is built on former swamps from which it takes its name. Popular with walkers and Parisians alike, it invites you to relax and shop! Zoom on this place with a thousand facets.
