The city’s rich maritime history and location on the Atlantic coast means that it offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, from lobster rolls to chowder. In addition to seafood, Halifax is also famous for its “donairs”, a spiced meat dish wrapped in a pita with tomato, onion, and sweet sauce. The city is also home to a thriving craft beer scene, as well as local wineries and cideries producing high-quality beverages.

There are many restaurants and cafes in Halifax that showcase the best of local ingredients and culinary traditions, from upscale dining to casual street food.
