Alicante Food Tour – the destination

Alicante is very pleasant to live in. There is a certain softness linked to the maritime facade of the old city which is spread out at the foot of a rocky peak of 200 m, the mount Benacantil where stands the fortress of Santa Bárbara. Its esplanade, lined with palm trees, and its old quarter are the meeting places par excellence. To the north of the promenade is the city’s sandy beach, with paid parking. Then beyond the Esplana de España, you can walk along the docks to the marina. The old town, with its narrow streets, old houses, small restaurants and old-fashioned stores, is nestled between the rock, the sea and the rambla. The old shopping district opens on the other side of the rambla. San Juan beach, a little away from the urban beaches, is ideal for finding more peace and space and is now very accessible by streetcar. Time to visit: two days to enjoy its museums and seaside walks. To facilitate your visit, remember that the city center is organized around the port of Alicante. Around the Calle Mayor, you will find many small restaurants. The streets Gerona, Chapuli, Teatro and Teniente Soto are home to numerous stores and small bars. The Barrio Viejo is the party district, as well as the port and the Explanada de España, where there are many terraces and discos.
